OBITUARY.

The death of Mrs H. E. Kerr of Te Kuiti, which occurred at a private hospital in Auckland yesterday morning will be heard of with regret throughout the district. Mrs Kerr, who was a daughter of Mr Reynolds of Pirongia, ani neice of Mrs J. T. Hetet of Te Kuiti, was well known and widely respected throughout the district. The occurrence is all the more deplorable from the fact that Mr and Mrs Kerr have only been married about four year*. The deceased lady had been ailing for some little time and her end was not entirely unexpected. Much sympathy is felt for Mr Kerr and the relatives of the deceased in tbeir sad bereavement. The interment will take place tomorrow, Friday, at Pirongia at 12 noon. The wife of Rewatu Hiriako, a Native well known in the King Conntry, died last night in Palmerston. The deceased had for some time past suffered from a swelling in the throat, and it was deemed necessary to per- , form an operation, which did not \ prove effective.. The deceased is well known in Te Kuiti, and sympathy is extended to thoscwho are left to mourn her 1 «s. It is expected the body will be brought back to Te Kuiti by tonight's brain and preparations for a tangi on a large tcale are now being made.
