Notes from Wellington. By Telegraph. WELLINGTON, Thursday. The request of the settlers at Oparure regarding the erection of a bridge over the Mangawhitikau river on the Oparure—Mairoa road has been referred by the member for the district v. the Minister, who replied that he --t-~ having a report made on the mat:er. The metalling of the reads lead . _ away from Otorohanga was request " by the local branch of the Farr.e:Union, and was submitted by the member to the Minister who replied that the matter would receive careful consideration on the framing cf the Estimates. Petitions from Robert Were and fifty other settlers praying for the completion of roads in the Mairoa district; also a petition from John Campbell and thirty working men residents of Ohura for resumption of road work as soon as possible; and from D. Knight and thirty others for the opening of a telephone and the completion of road works at Waitewhena were presented by Mr Jennings to the Minister yesterday.
