WAIKATO BOXING ASSOCIATION.

Opening Tournament. The newly formed Waikato Boxing Association at Hamilton has made arrangements to hold its first tournament in the Hamilton Town Hall on Toesday, October 26th. The contests will be held under the auspices of the Northern Boxing Association, to which the Waikaao body is afficlitaed, and several members of the Auckland centre will journey to Hamilton for the occasion. The new association is putting on an excellent programme including .Waikato Championships for bantam, feather, light, middle and heavy weight*, open to amateurs who are bona fule residents in Waikato, King Country, Goldficlds and Thames Valley district l ;, besides three open contents under eight stone, under ten stone and catch weights. In addition arrangements are being made to bring together a pair of well known professionals for a ten round bout as a "star" attraction. Nominations close with the Secretary, Mr M. McArthur, at the "Waikato Times" Office, Hamilton at 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 21st. It is considered likely that competitors from the King Country will take part in the tournament owing to the favourable train arrangements existing.
