FARMERS' UNION.
Otorohanga Branch. The Ordinary Monthly Meeting of the above branch of the Farmers' Union, was held on Friday. October Sith, there being present: Mr J. Ormsby. chairman: Messrs W. Yicary. Cudden. Hargreaves, Cater. Roberts, Oldborg. Willis, Johnson and H. IJwitrr.. secretary and treasurer. The minutes of t*e previous meeting were read and continued. - Correspondence. The correspondence wa.i dealt with as follows: ■ Letter from W. T. Jennings. Ksq. - Received. From the Provincial Secretary re annual levy en all branches.—lt was proposed by the secretary, seconded by Mr Cater, that the branch send i's to the Provincial Secretary en account - Carried. Fmrn Provincial Secretary enclosing lists for distribution amongst member* in order to obtain funds for the further organising of the Union.--Received and tists distributed a» required. From Provincial Secretary asking for an expression of opinion from the Branch re setting stock by live weight. —Mr Willis proposed, and Mr Cater seconded, that this meeting is in favour, and of opinion, that it would he more advantageous to sell their stock by live weight, and if necessary a small charge woufd be made for the weigh-ing-—Carried. From Mr Harold Matthews. -Received. - Native Lands Question. - Mr Buddm moved that in the absence of the former mover that the question be allowed to stand over.— Mr Roberts seconded a7d the motion was carried.
Mr Harjfreaves prtopotfeti that lh« secretary be asked to communicate with the Minister ef Railways re having the vafotsf of alt train tickets stamped or printed thereon.—Lapsed for want of seconder. Mr Willis proposed that the secretary write to the Registrar of Births with a view of having a Registrar of births, deaths and marriages appointed at Otorohanga.—Mr Vicary seconded the motion which was carried. —New Post Office. - Mr Vicary proposed that steps k taken to officially open the new P.O. and that the secretary be instructed to rmmanicate with the member for Ik district asking him to endeavour to get some one in authority to perform the ceremony. - -Mr Johnson seconded the motion, which was carried. The secretary proposed that ail present fee a committee to confer with him as to the ways and means the said function should take shape. Mr Cater seconded.—Carried. Mr Budden proposed that all new members pay their subscriptions upon election. Mr Roberts seconded.— Carried. —New Members. The secretary proposed Mr Martin Oldbury. Seconded by Mr Johnson Elected. MrChas. Cater proposed Mr N. Prime. Mr Johnson seconded. - Elected.
