SPECIAL ORDER MAKING SPECIAL RATE. \HAT in pursuance and exercise of tbe powers vested in it in that behalf by the "Local Bodies Loans Act, 1908," tbe Waitomo County Council hereby resclves as follows: — THAT for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £SOO authorised to bp raised by the Waitomo County Council under the provisions of Section 15 of the above mentioned Act for the purpose of WIDENING and METALLING that portion of the Otorohanga- Hangatiki road commencing from the northeast corner of Section 9 to the southern corner of Section 2 of Block VIII Orahiri Survey District: the said Waitomo County Council hereby makes and levies a SPECIAL RATE of ONE PENNY FARTHING (l}d) in the pound on the basis of the Capital Value of all Rateable Properly in the Mataparu Special Rating District, comprising the whole of sections 2, 3, -I, 5, 6, 7, S. 9. 10 and 11 of Block VIII, Orahiri, and Orahiri No. 1 Section 22 Block. Such Special Rate shall be an Annual Recurring Rale during the currency of such loan and payable yearly on the 31st day of March in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of 41 years at 3* per cent, or until the loan is fully paid off and it is the intention to pay out of loan the cost of raising same, and Ihe first year's interest. The above resolution was passed at a Special Meeting of the Waitomo County Council held on the 20th day of September 1909, and notice is hereby given that the said resolution will be submitted to an ordinary meeting of the said Waitomo County Council to be held in Mr Ernest Kerr's Commercial Room at Te Kuiti on MONDAY the 25th day of October, 1909 at 6.30 p.m. for confirmation as a Special Order. IMPROVED FARM SETTLEMENT FOR LANDLESS MARRIED MEN. District Lands Office, Auckland, 20th September, 1909 T is hereby notified that 86 sections as below will be open for application under the Regulations relating to Improved Farm Settlements at this Office on the 25th day of October 1909. The ballot amongst applicants approved by the Land Board will take place at the Lands Office, Auckland, on FRIDAY, 29th October at 10 a.m. RANGITOTO NO. 1 SETTLEMENT: —Waitomo County: 52 sections from 70 acres to 200 acres in extent. Access about 3 miles from Hangatiki Railway Sutton or 4 miles from Otorohanga Station at nearest point and at the lower end of the Settlement about 6 miles from Te Kuiti. RANGITOTO NO. 2 SETTLEMENT: —West Taupo County: 16 sections from 130 acres to 200 acres in extent, access from Otorohanga distant about 9 miles from nearest point. KORAKONUI SETTLEMENT:-West Taupo County: 16 sections from 140 acres to 200 acres in extent. Access from Kihikihi about 7 miles and about 6 miles from Kawa Railway Station by formed road. Application forms, plans and pamphlets giving full particulars regarding conditions of occupation, advances etc, may be obtained at the Lands Office, Auckland. Preference will be given to landless married men and successful applicants have the option of acquiring their holdings with right of purchase at 5 per cent, per annum rental, or under renewable at J per cent, per annum. The Land Board has the power to give preference to applications received from retrenched Civil Servants and workers who have been dispensed with from the Main Trunk Railway and from Road Work?.
