Resident Correspondent. Waipa B.C. 1 A committee meeting of the Waipa I Racing Clob was held on Wednesday evening,, there being present: Messrs H. Weal, chairman. 3. Middlebrock. J. Pollard, G. Soinley, secretary. The treasurer's report showed that notwithstanding the very unfavorable weather for the last meeting the receipts showed an all round increase and the profit over the meeting £1? 14s 2d. The gate receipts showed an increase of X 5 10s. It was considered advisable to hold the next meeting in December instead of in March. The Chairman undertook to look up a suitable date and to submit it to the annual meeting to he held shortly. Hockey.
On Wednesday a team of Cambridge Lady Hockey is ts played the- Ts Awaraoto Ladies on the local ground. A great deal of interest was evinced in the match, and a fair number of spectators were present. After a gcod contest Che Te Awamotu Ladies proved Victorious by two goals to nil. To be fashionable nowadays instead of seeing snakes and suchlike, alter indulging in a Bacchanalian revel—airships are the vogue. The "Star's" Kihikihi correspordent had evidently been sampling some bad whisky when he saw bis airships. It is a coincidence that a picture show were pxhibiting their searchlight on the same night. Business Changes. Th* following basinc&ses are reported to have changed hands:—Mr F. C. Thomas' pharmacy to Mr Gilford: the bakery business of the late J. M. Noble to a Mr Maher of Hamilton.
