A very enjoyable concert in aid of the Piopio Football Club was held in the Miroahuiao Hall on Wednesday evening last. Although the roads were very bad. causing much inconvenience to the ladies, several of the vehicles getting stuck in She mud. yet everyone enjoyed themselves- thoroughly, and the concert was voted a huge success. Mrfl. Elliott, president o? th«" club. occupied tbe chair, and during the course of his remarks welcomed hark their old club associate, Mr R. C«burn, who had just returned fro** the Australian tour with the Native team. He called for three hearty cheer* which were lustily given by his clubmates. The fottewing programme -was then rendered: •
Overture. Mrs Elliott: song. "Anchored," G. Smith; recitation. "Cricket at KUlaloo." G. Elliott: song. "Red Wing." Mis* sftirlir>je; song. "The Flight of Ages." Mr Anthony: recitation, "Not too Bad." Mr Thorn; swing. "Look Back," J. Brough; duet. "Ir» the Dusk of the Twilight." Miss Stirling and Mr Smith: song"Paddy." G. Elliott; song. "A Vision," Mr Thorn; instrumental duet, selected. Asptin Pros; song. "Good Company." Mr Anthony; song. "May-be" Miss Stirling; song. "In Happy Momenta." J. Brough; chorus, "Johnny Sehnwker." The Company. Mrs G. Elliott accompanied the soloists on the* organ. Pancing was indulged in until i« a,m. Messrs Green and Colehroofc supplied the sapper in their ujuai dainty style.
