M. A. Ahier is starting a branch of his well known general sotre business at Kawa. He has had new premises erected for him there, which are now almost ready for occupation. —"A Mysterious Airship."— Southerners are not to be allowed to have a monopoly of the airship business. Feeling ourselves neglected in regard to airship apparitions, arrangements have been made to give a public exhibition in the Town Hall on Wednesday, September 1 -it, when a number of local arti its will stage a farce called "The Mysterious Airship." The proceeds are to be given to the funds of St. John's Church. -Lambing.— The season has been very favouarble ot the farmer in many respects. Lambing is general now, and percentages are good. - Fruit Trees.— While parts of the King Country frosts are rife and mud knee deep, fruit trees are breaking into blossom here. It is just another example of the mild climate that we are privileged to enjoy. —Dance at Kihikihi.— An enjoyable dance was held at Kihikihi on Friday night, about twenty couples gracing the floor. Dancing was kept up spiritedly till midnight. Mr W. Thompson acted as M.C., and kept the dancers going merrily. Mrs Perry supplied the greater part of the music, while Misses Elmsly and Thompson played extras. Shooting Match.— A match between Volunteers and civilians is to eventuate shortly. The civilians proved victors in the last competition, and this has put the volunteers on their mettle.
