TE ANGA.

(Own Correspondent.)

The first meeting of the executive of the Railway League formed in this district some time *go, was held at Te Anga on Saturday last. there being present: Messrs Haylock, Marokopa; J. Wouldes. Kiritehere: Fairfax, Waerngahou; J. Wright. Kinohaku: O. Tyman. Te Anga. Mr Haylock was unanimously elected chairman for the ensuing year, and D. Tyman secretary and treasurer. The minutes of the public meeting, held in connection with the League, were read, and adopted. The following motions were proposed and carried. -

That the League be known as the Kawhia Harbour—Main Trunk Railway League. That the executive be elected annually. That members* subscription be 2« 6d, and all members of the executive be empowered to receive same. That the secretary write inviting the following gentlemen to act on the executive: Mr Robertson, Awarna; Mr Kinnane, Kiritehere; J. Shaw. Mangaohinga; and Mr Armitage. Te Anga. That the Minister for Railways be written to. re promise of trial survey, between Kawhia Harbour and the Main Trunk line, and that it be left to the chairman and secretary to deal with. . .

Considering the benefits ot be derived, by having a League in the district. I hope this one has come to stay, at all events, until the Kawhia Harbour is linked up with the railway system of the Dominion. And unity is the bc3t means to that end.

At the present time the district is urgently in need of saleyards, factories, wharves, schools, etc., and as settlement progresses, other works of importance will naturally follow. A trial survey, approved by the Department, will provide the settlers with the means of concentrating their work; thereby conducing to the most advantageous working of the district as a whole.
