TE KUITI RAILWAY STATION.
In reference to the suggested scheme of improvements at Te Kuiti railway station, and the efforts of the Te Kuiti Chamber of Commerce in urging the early completion of the work, the following letter ~ received last week by j Mr Jennings, from the Minister of Railways, will be of interest:— j "Sir. —With reference to your letter i of 29tb ultimo, covering communica- J tion from the Secretary of Te Kuiti { Chamber of Commerce, suggesting alterations in the arrangements at Te Kuiti station, I have the honour to inform you that it is recognisied that the station is not in the most convenient position, and also that the expansion of settlement in the surrounding district will render alterations necessary in the future. At the present moment, however, there are a large number of urgent works in hand or awaiting funds, and it is not, therefore, practicable to incur expenditure at Te Kuiti. When the rearrangement of the station is in hand, the representations of the Chamber will be given full consideration and be met as far as circumstances warrant. —I have the honour to be, Sir, J. A. MILLAR, Minister of Railways."
