Resident Correspondent. Hasty Conclusions. Everything is ready for the production of this play in the Town Hall on Wedncsdiy. Under the able management of Mrs Ahier the different characters have mastered their parts with pro.-like proficiency. For the occasion the Hall and stage arc to be lit up byacetylene. MrC. Attil is going to provide the light and will superintend the arrangement for this special event. The promoters deserve a bumper house. Tennis Dance at Pirongia. On Saturday July 17th. the Tennis Club held a dance in the Public Hall, a fair number being present from the surrounding centres. The floor was in first class >srder, and everybody succeeded in enjoying themselves immensely. Mr Chapped fulfilled the duties of M.C. in bis usual good style. Music was contributed by Mr Randrup, Tc Awamutu, and Mrs A. W. Jones and many willing volunteers. Poniu Bridge. A start was made last week with the new bridge. Operations were abruptly suspended two days afterwards for goodness knows what reason. The necessary timber for the prosecution of the work is on the ground, so it seems bard to understand why this continual juggling should be. Things Musical. The annual meeting of the Philharmonic Society was held in the Library on Monday evening last. The president, Mr Clarke, occupied the chair, and about 25 members were present. The secretary presented his annual report reviewing the progress of the past year. The tresurer's balancc- ; «heet showed a credit balance of £lO : Os Bd. Both were adpoted. " The secretary.Mr Warburton, intimated to the i meeting that he would be unable to : continue his duties as secretary. His resignation was received with reluctance, and many expressions of regret. Tbe members passed a unanimous vote of thanks to tbe Conductor, Hcrr E. Mueller, for the manner in which be had kept tbe members together during i the year and to tbe retiring secretary, Mr A. Warburton. Tennis. The annual meeting of the Tennis Club will be held on Tuesday in tbe Town Hall. An endeavour is to be made to provide more courts and to improve tbe existing ones. Tbis will be the more important business before the meeting. By-Laws. A special meeting of the Town Board was held on Thursday, July 22nd. Present: Messrs J. B. Teasdale, chairman. Wallace, Kirkbam, Bockett They met to discuss the new by-laws being formed, and it was decided to confirm tbe by-laws drawn out. Theie are expected to come into force on September Ist. The new Domain Board arc actively pursuing a progressive policy. The domain is being cleaned up, paths made and a proper endeavour made to make the ground more attractive to tbe publie,
