FOOTBALL.

Te Kuiti v. Oparure. J This match was played on the Tc J Kuiti ground on Saturday last. | The ground being partially under water a good exhibition of football was out of the question. Both teams took the field without their full strength, many of the Te Kuiti rcp-for.vards being absent, it was also noticeable that the Oparure team had many junior players in their ranks. One cannot help admiring the Oparure men for the kceness shewn, in bringing in to Te Kuiti a weak team, in such weather and over such roads' if they did not give a particularly good display of football, they certainly proved the fact that they are good sports. The game proved to be a "walk over" for Te Kuiti, tries were gained in quick succession by Williams, Spraggc, Black, Howarth, E. Kerr, Thompson 3 and Inne* Kerr 3, four of which were converted by Spragge. many players trying 'heir luck at goal kicking but found the greasy and heavy ball very hard to put over the cross bar. Mr. McMicjccn efficiently carried out the duties of referee. The Nehenehenui and Mokauili teams met on Saturday last and after a close game the Nehe's left the field victorious by the small margin of one point, the scores being Nehenehenui 9 points, Mokauiti 8 points. It is und2rstood that the Mokauititeam have entered a protest, more of which will no doubt be heard of anon.

A meeting of the Maniapoto Rugby Union was held in Mr Falwasser's office on Saturday evening last. It was decided that a rep team be sent to Otorohanga on Saturday next, the team to travel by the train leaving Te Kuiti at 10.50 a.m. Further details were arranged in connection with the Auckland B match, which will be played in Auckland on Saturday week. It is probable that a match will be played at Te Kuiti, against a Kawhia team, at an early date. The following will represent Maniapoto against Otorohanga on Saturday next at Otorohanga:— Full: Turei; threequarters: Tuheka, Mitcheson, Grey Poutawera; five eighths: Spragge, Moir; half: Black; wing: Innes Kerr; forwards: Pratt, Smith, Glasgow; Sullivan; Williams, Thomson, Dan Gray. Emergencies: Howarth, Rou Rata; Mungu, Hikaka.
