TE KUITI RAILWAY STATION
| Matters in connection with the Te Kuiti railway station have formed subject for representations to the authorities at various times and generally ha residents have been led to believe that a scheme of improvements on a scale befitting the importance of the town and the amount of business transacted at the station, was projected by the Department. When Mr Hogg visited the district a deputation waited upon him and pointed out the state of affairs. The Minister promised to represent the matter to the Department, and as a result of those representations the following letter was this week received by the Secretary of the Te Kuiti Chamber of Commerce from the General Manager of N.Z. Railways: "Sir,- -With reference to the representations made by the deputation from the Te Kuiti Chamber of Commerce that waited upon the ex-Minis-ter of Roads recently urging that improved cattle yards should be provided at Te Kuiti. I have the honour by direction of the Minister of Railways to inform you that generally speaking the stock yards are ample for the requirements of the traffic, but it is recognised that the position of the station at the present time is not the most suitable from a railway point of view. In view, however, of the many more urgent and important works in hand or awaiting funds the Minister regrets that, at the "■■esent time, he cannot see his way to authorise any expenditure in the direction desired. When, however, the re-arrangement of the Te Kuiti Station is undertaken your representations will be borne in mind and will be given due consideration."
