COUNTY VALUATIONS
Waitomo And Ohura The work of assessing the values of properties in the Counties of Waitomo and Ohura has been accomplished by the Government Valuer, Mr H. A. Ellison, and the figures for the various ridings, as published below, make interesting reading. A striking feature in connection with the valuation is that taking the whole district or:iy about a dozen objections of a trivial nature, and chiefly concerning minor details, were lodged. These were cosily and satisfactorily adjusted between the objectors and the valuer, and :i:ere is therefore no necessity :;r he'ding an assessment court. Considering the wide extent of the district covered by the two counties this res;:!: is most satisfactory and is a tribute to the manner in which Mr Edison has accomplished his work. The gross totals under the various heads for the previous valuation, made in 1960-7 are also shown below, and taking a line from the previous values there has manifestly been a tremendous amount of progress in both counties between the time of the respective valuations. The figures of each riding in each county are as follow: —
