COLEMAN'S ENTERTAINERS.
Coleman's Picture Company opened their season in Te Kuiti on Saturday evening last to a full house, and judging by the continued applause, the show quickly caught on. Miss May Lascelles was recalled repeatedly for her illustrated ballads. She has a loveH" soprano voice, and was well worth hearing. JoeVVorth was recalled for his clog and jig dancing, ana Miss Hetty Mowat at the piano was at her best, and played selections which too.-: the pubile fancy. Mr McDermot,c-:ec-tric operator, had a beautiiu; light. and showed the pictures to advantage. A few of the star films, which were shown can be mentioned: —The eternal city a beautiful picture showing Rome in ancient and modern times, Pope Leo, the Vatican, and pictures showing the customs of the ancient Romans. Winter in Switzerland is another picture which pleased the audience. It shows Swtizerland in the winter when the country is clothed in snow and ice, and also depicts the dangerous games the Swiss peope play. Crime on a Railway is a dramatic film, showing thieves intent on plundering the train. They first get the guard to have a drink, and drug him, and get away with the booty. The guars is dismissed from nte service.and he swears to have his revenge. The next picture shows him creeping towards tne signal box. He intends to murder the signalman, turn the points from danger to clear, and he can be seen ciimbing the stairs, murdering the signalman, and turning the points. The catastrophe is then shown and the dead and dying being carried to the hospital are clearly depicted. Finally the picture shows where the guard is caught, his trail, and bis punishment: Imprisonment for Life. The falls of Clyde is a very pretty scene, showing the Falls by day and moonlight. The programme is again varied by showing H.kl.S. Powerful in a storm. The picture gives some idea of what our ships wi:i stanc from wind and water if tr.ey are put to the test. There is also the usual number of comic films which tne public like so well. A very good one shows a French Count advertising for a V> ife but he gets so many young and old ladies after his hand that he decides the best thing to do is to run for it, and then the fun commences.
