MOKAU-WAITEWHENA RAILWAY LEAGUE.
.: A meeting of the above League was held in Miroahuiao Hail on the sth inst. Mr P. O'Dwyer presided. In his opening remarks the president severely commented on the apathy of the settlers in attending the general meetings. In th ■ absence of so many of the - ] executive only the most urgent business was dealt with. The matter of sending a delegate to Wellington in connection with the petition that has been largely signed was discussed at some length. Or. the motion of Mr Alder, seconded by Mr Thompson, it was decided to ser.d Messrs O'Dwyer and Jackson a~ deleSates with the petition to T -V;-ll:nrt:n. Since the last meeting Ve ; srs Ellictt. Hickman, and Jackson had attended the Conference of Railway delegates in response to an invitation frcm the Auckland Chamber cf Ctmmerce. They consider that much material benefit will result from the mission, it being the first time the Chamber had received direct from delegates the objects and aims of the Leagues' proj posals. i It is to be hoped in future that meetlings will be better and punctually atJ tended, as it is important that all dis- ! tricts interested should show their in- ! terest in a more demonstrative mani ner.
