j At Matamata on Wednesday, 26th May, we had a smaller entry of stock than usual: 412 cattle. 214 sheep and 25 pigs. However, what was yarded met with a ready sale, and prices showed a decided improvement on pr ;- viotis sale. Fat and forward cows £3 to £4 10s; 18 month steers £2 15s to £2 18s; 18 month heifers £2; 2 1-2 to 3 year steers £3l Is to £4 4s; choice heifers in calf £4 to £4 10s; more backward and younger sorts £3 ss; good calves 25s to 30s; smaller sorts 19s to 225; fat and forward wethers 12s 9d to 14s; cull lambs 51 sld; porkers £2 to £2 10s; slips 255; weaner pigs 10s; Farmers' roller £l2 10s; drill £2O; single plough £2. At Ohaupo on Tuesday 25th inst, we had only a small yarding of stock—--200 head of all classes. 2 and 2 1-2 year steers £3 6s to £3 16s; 18 month steers £2 7s to £2 lis; calves 26s fat heifers and cows £4 10s to £4 16s; fresh conditioned cows £3 3s to £3 ss; store cowa 37s 6d to 3Sa; mixed store ewes and wethers 10s; lambs 6s Bd.
At Cambridge on May 28th wc had a I yarding of 610 cattle, 160 sheep and 33 horse*. 80 forward bullocks were required, and made from £5 5s to £6 10s; more backward sorts £4 19s to £5 2s 6d; 2 year steers £3l 2s fid to £3 15s; aged fat cows £3 5s to £3 15s; empty store cows £2 5s to £2 15s; very choice heifers.in calf £4 10s to £5 ss; more backward sorts £3 10s to £4; dairy cows to calv3 in spring £4 to £5 15s; good steer calves up to 355; mixed sexes 25s to 30s; for good sorts 15s to 20s. Draught stallion Labourer £l4 14s; medium drauhgt mares £ll 10s to £l9; unbroken light horses £4 to £8 10s; ponies and scrubbers 20s to 40s; qsefql cobs £5 5s to £8 10s. j
' I Messrs Alfred Buckland and Sons report as follows: — At Rerouera on Thursday both dairy and store cattle came forward in moderate numbers, and no improvement jin prices can be quoted.
