Mr. C. J. Parr spoke strongly on the subject of Defence at the opening of the new Technical School «i Otahuhu last Wednesday. He said that the Epaul of Education regretted extremely* that the powers-that-be would not avail themselves of the excellent material furnished iby the schools in the shape of young cadets who were turned over to them after they left school. It was a sinful waste of splendid material, and it was to be deplored that the Prime Minister had not risen to the occasion and insisted that the cadets should continue military training after leaving school until they were 21 years of age. "In my humble judgement," said Mr Parr, "the statesman who neglects the defence of thi country is a traitor to his country-'"
