DISTRICT PARS.

The usual weekly meeting of the Te Kuiti Fire Brigade was held in the "Chronicle" office last evening. There was a fair attendance and matters in connection with the forthcoming social were discussed. Judging by the interest displayed there is every reason to anticipate a highly successful function on the evening of May 24th.

An entertainment in aid of the Church of England is to be held in Te Euiti Hall on May 13th. The programme for the first part of the evening is highly varied.and should provide ample scope for a most enjoyable evening. The entertainment is to conclude with a dance. Full particulars appear in another column of this issue. Mails for the Commonwealth of Australia, Ceylon, India, China, Japan, Straits Settlements; also South Africa, Continent of Europs, and United Kingdom, close here on Monday, May 10th, at 10 a.m. Correspondence for the United Kingdom and Continent oi Europe must be specially addressed. A meeting of the Golf Club is to be held at the Chronicle Office this evening for the purpose of receiving the report of the committee and arranging details for the season. An excellent course of nine holes has been flagged on Tokipuhuki and with a little work will be ready for play. The membership of the club is increasing satisfactorily and a successful season is anticipated. Attention is drawn to the notice of the Maniapoto-Tuwharetoa Maori Land Board, which appears in another column, in connection with the disposal of township sections at Otorohanga. The township is progressing steadily and there should be a fair demand for the sections.
