THE WHEAT MARKET.
A telegram from Christchurch spates that the collapse of the American wheat corr.tr and lower values now ruling in Australia have been reflected on the local wheat marlter. and during the last ter. day; ; rices have been weakened to an euceut of at least 3d a bushel, the current values ranging from 3s lid to 4s on trucks at country stations, slightly higher trice- ::elng pail? for extra prime parcels t: Pearl. There is an entire absence cf =;■_■ dilation on the part of exporters, and for the most part millers are Indlsncsed to operate beyond what Is necessarv for present requirements. Cons: tenable quantities are being; la;-: 1 under offer, but, generally speaking, holders show little disposition to sell st -resent prices, being in most case •• conndent of the future prospects of the wheat market. The oat market is firm. £: -~ nrices have an upward tendency, : resent values representing an advance from Id to 2d compared with the wims ruling a couple of weeks ago. Fairlv extensive shipments are belnsr made to the tfnited Kingdom, and. were the shipping available, the trace would probably assume considerable volume. Space, however, is difficult t: rrocure.
