BURGLARY AT PIPPIO.
Hattaway's Store Ransacked. Information was received at Te Kuiti this morning to the effect that Mr V. S. Hattaway's store was broken into on Sunday night, and a number of [articles stolen. An entrance to the building was obtained through the office window, and a determined attempt was made to break open the safe, in which was a considerable am--1 ount of cash, besides cheques. For- ,• tunately the burglars were frustrated 'in their attempt in this direction, and * j only secured a small amount in change | from the till. Various articles of apparel including boots were taken from the store, as well as a quantity of tobacco, but the haul must have been a comparatively lfght one, as th? lars were defeated in their attempts on the saf?.
