TE KUITI IMPROVEMENTS.
THE work of placing the streets of Te Kuiti in good order is nearing completion and with the approach of winter, town residents are beginning to realise the benefits attaching to formed roads and footpaths. The manner in which the work has been carried out undoubtedly deserves the widespread commendation of the community, and all concerned, from council to contractors, are to be complemented upon the result. A special word of praise is certainly due to the County Chairman, who is also member for Te Kuiti Riding, for the time and interest he has devoted to the work from the initiation of the loan to the present time. In new towns such as are springing up in the King Country, there is much to be done and the public spirit of the residents is called upon in every direction. Street works are naturally the first consideration; then follow a multitude of other requirements necessary for the well-being and health of the community in general. It is to be hoped that Te Kuiti residents, having put their hands to the plough.will not turn back, but will be inspired to greater efforts in the interests of all. The force of good example is proverbially inspiring, and we trust that such a satisfactory beginning will tend to encourage that public spirit without which no community may hope to progress.
