The sculling championphin cvf }i*\( Zealand which wm orated on Easter Monday between Whclch, of Akaroa and Fogwtrll, of Sydney, at Akaroa. resulted in a win for the New Zealander. About a mile and a half from the start Whelch put in a marvello.ua spurt and seemed almost \Q l«ave Fogwell standing still. Fogwell then made a game effort. Two miles from the start Whelch was 20 lengths ahead and rowed easily up the harbour to the winning post. The st*>« was £2OO aside.
