The Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Limited, report as follows:At Cambridge on March 24th and 25th, we held our annual horse fair when 470 horses were offered for all odd sorts, and for buggy horses, backs, and draughts there was a fair enquiry, and practically all entries changed hands. On the second day of sale. 1 however, the inferior horses were numerous and these were not required. Yearling draughts £ll to £ls 10s; 2 year draughts £lB 10s; the thoroughbreds from Mr R. J. Matthews* estate made from 12gns. to 30gns.; 24 draughts from Ransgitikei district were really good sorts and found ready I buyers making from £22 10s to £4O; 2 draught mares from Mr Atkinson, made £3B 10s to £49; 14 medium draughts from Bagnall Bros, £l9 to £34 IDs; and other draughts at aboot same rates. On the second day of sale only light horse were offered, upstanding harks and good young light harness horses made frcm £l6 to £23: fair hacks and cobs £9 to £l4; ponies and weeds from 10s to £4. Altogether 245 horses were disposed of. At Ohau|o on Tuesday, 30th ult.. we yarded 400 head of cattle and 250 sheep. Forward conditioned 3J year steers £5 15s to £6 lis: same age stores £5 3s to £3 7s; 2 year steers £4; empty cows £2 7s; 2 year heifers in calf £2 9s to £3 12s; heifer calves 19s 6d; steer calve* 22s 6d; store wethers 9s Dd; lambs ss. At Martinsville on the 26th inst. we yarded 10W «heep ard 200 head of cattle. With the exception of a few pore Leicester? all the sheep were sold. Fat ewes 10s2d; fat wether 12s to 13s 9d; full mouth ewes 7s 9d to 8s lOd; cull ewes 3s Id to 3s 6d; store lambs 6s lid toss; English ram lambs 16s to 21s; Sixty one beef penned were required, fat steers bringing £6 15s to £8 4s; heavy cows £7 2s; lighter weights £4 10s to £4 19s; fcrward conditioned cows and heifers £3 10s to £3 17s 6d; calves 17s to 20s; younger sorts 10s to I4s;springers £4 13s.
On Monday, March 29th, we held a clearing sale at Mr J. F. Vercoc's. Hinuera Valley, on one of the wettest days we have experienced for a sale. Notwithstanding this we had a really good sate and everything made fair value. Ewes in lamb 13* 4d: lambs 7s lid; small 2 tooth sheep 8s: 2$ year steers £4 lis; calves £1 10s; dairy cows £3 15s to £&ss; draught horses £l7, £25, £3O and £3l; 2 year colt by Fref dom 35gns.; waggon £25 10s; disc harrows £9 15s; chain harrows £5; tine harrows £1; d.f plough £l3 Ifls.
At Hamilton on April Ist, we held oar usual stock sale and bad a very good entry, 350 fat sheep. 12? store sheep. 40 pips, 143 fat cattle and 295 stores. Fat steers made from to £S ss; fat cows. £5 10s; small fat heifers. £3 3s to £4 13s: 15 months steers, £2 ss; best steer calves, 26s to £3 3«; mixie, 20s to 245; smaller sorts, 13s to 18s; 18 months heifers, £2 springing beifers, £4 to £5 ?.« tf«J; extra good dairy cows, £9 7s 6d; fat wethers, 12s 6d to 15s; fat ewes, 9s 6d; store wethers, 10s 6d; fat lamb lis; pigs, weaners, 9s to 13s 6d; slips, lis to 18s.
Messrs Alfred Buckland and Sons report as follows: At Pukekohe on Monday we had a full yarding of cattle. Buyers were present for all classes, and prices were slightly in advance of those ruling at recent sales. Springers were in strong demand, selling from £6 15s to £9 5s for best, others £4 10s to £6 ss; aged and inferior £2 to £3 15s; fresh empty young ccws and heifers £2 Is to £3 3s; nice conditioned 2J to 3 year steers £4 Is to £4 18s 6d; 2 year olds £3 5s to £3 13s; 18 months to 2 year £2l 6s to £3 3s; yearilngs £1 17s fid to £2 6s; mixed sexes £llsto£l 18s; wel} g;»own. calves 15s to £ 1 1(m; smaller IT to 235; weedy 8s to 13s; heavy bulls £4 to £5 10s; fat cow* and heifers £3l 5s to £5 16s; steeTS £6 5s to £6 15s. We held a special siale of store sheep at the Remuera yards on Tuesday, and offered 2573 sheep and 63 rams. Two and 4-tooth ewes made from 15s 6d to 16s; fresh full mouth 12s to 13s; failing mouths 7s to 9s; cults 4s 3d to 6s; wethers 13s to 14s 6d; lambs 5s 9d; Lincoln rams£l Is to £2 2s; Romneys 2|gns.; Shropshire l|gns.; English Leicesters£l Is to 1J At Remuera on Thursday dairy cows sold from 30t to £7 17s fid, according to age, quality and condition. Store cattle sold at recent values. Young and fat calves, short of requirements, were in keen demand, bringing from 40s to 535; 36 sold. There Was a full yardipg of fat cattle ojf extra gdod quality. Prices were lower all round ox beef selling to 20s per 1001b and cow to 18s. Steers rangrd In price from £5 to £lO 6d; cows £8 2s 6d to £6 15s 6d; 361 sold. Sheep, penned In moderate numbers, were require ed. Best wethers 15s to 16s 9d; others to 14s fid; lighter weights 10s to 13s ; 1380 sold. Lams, fpenned in small numbers, were better worth. There was a fair yarding of pigs, which sold freely, alt classes being in strong demand. Poultry Is 3d to 2s 6d.
