MR HOGG'S VISIT.
THE visit of the Hon. A. W. Hogg to the district is well timed, inasmuch as the important works begun in the district during the season just ending, are in such a state that it is manifest that only by a continuance of a policy of vigorous activity can the works in hand be carried through profitably. With regard to the metalling of the main roads, so much capital has been invested in plant that only by keeping the machines running can their installation be justified. From the tenor of Mr Hogg's public utterances we are led to believe that the Minister intends to go as far as possible with the policy of providing good roads for the backblocks, and such belief alone is sufficient to assure the heartiest possible welcome to the Minister for Roads and Bridges. Mr Hogg will be with us early next week, and the settlers and town residents, whose interests are identical, should unite and extend a ; hearty welcome to the Minister on the | occasion of his first visit to our dis- ; trict.
