TE KUITI CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.
A meeting of the Chamber of Commerce was held in Messrs Tompkins and Davis' office, Te Kuiti on Tuesday evening last. Mr J. Boddie, President, occupied the chair, and there was a fair attendance. After the routine business had been disposed of the matter of the expected visit of the Hon. A. W. Hogg was discussed. The following matters were suggested as being within the sphere of the Chamber to bring before the Minister: Roads, inlcuding Awakino, Arapae, Te Kuiti-Waitomo, Waiteti and Mangaorino. ' The opening of the land on the eastern side of the railway. Postal: The appointment of a lettercarrier for Te Kuiti; establishing of a telephone bureaux throughout the district, and so link up the out di itricts with Te Kuiti. It was also deicded to draw attention to the inadequate accommodation at the new post office. Railway: The inadequate accommodation at the railway station was referred to, and it was decided to request the Minister to support the suggestion of an island platform. It was also decided to request that the present loading yards be removed. Rules: On the motion of Mr Ormsby, seconded by Mr Lusk, it was decided to authorise the Committee elected to draft rules, to complete the rules and have them printed. New Members: Dr Zobel and Messrs Jones and Somerville were duly elected members of the Chamber.
