Some Remedies for Pains.

Turning to the question of remedies for nervous pains, there can be little doubt that celain c'.rup? in fairly common use are extremely 'sluxble for the relief of such troubles. Ten grains of antipyrin may l>e triesj and the dose repeated in four hours if on relief is obtaned. l'henacetin is another drug of great use in the relief of pain, and occasionaily a powder composed oC five grains of antipyrin and live grains of phenacetin will be found to produce excellent results. If phenacetin is given alone the dose and time of giving it are similar to thusc in the case of antipyrin itself. In many cages neuralgic pains arc benefitted by that useful i medicine, bromide of potash. The i dose here varies from 20 to 25 grains I dissolve! in water and trifccn on an ! empty stotnach. Probably bromide of | potash is more useful if taken this > way half an hour before retiring to rest for the night. If any tendency towards rheumatism is suspected it will be well to try the effect of ealicin. The dose of this powder would be from 25 to 30 grains, given every three or four hours during the continuance of the pain, t may add that all of these remedies can be readily given in the shape of useful tabloids. A3 each tabloid contains five grains of the drug, the dose can be in this way very readily and exactly regulated. It may be added here that an important part of the treatment of many nervous or neuraligc pains is that of at once administering a purgative.
