Fresh tenders for No. 2 Contract were considered and it was decided to accept Mr Mjahood's tender. —Engineer's Report•

I sent a copy of the specifications of the work to be done in the Mangaotaki valley to the settlers, and asked them to give me a price, but they are too busy on their farms at present. I have since heard that Mr Gleadow would do the work, so I sent him a copy of the specifications and asked him to let me know what price he would do it for. If the price is not satisfactory I will get it done by day work as it will not do to delay it any longer. The timber for the culverts on the Mangacrino road has been ordered, and they will be put in a soon as it arrives. I only recently got the amount of "thirds" available for the Mairoa road, and will have the woi'k put in hand next week. I expect to get the timber for the culverts soon, and will get it carted out as soon as possible. Contract No. 1, Te Kuiti. This contract would have been finished some time ago but for the delay in getting the timber for the kerbing. An extra was added to this contract for easing off the corner at the Southern end of the railway station.
