- ■ ❖ An Awakino Case. On Wednesday last at the Waitara Magistrate's Couro before Mr H. S. Fitzherbert. SAd . Arthur G. Crawford, a coach drive;-. was charged with the sale of liquor in a r.o-!:eer.se district, to wit, Awakiao. Other charges were soliciting' an order, receiving an order, and keeping liquor for sale.

The fact of Crawford having three bottles of whisky in his whare could be explained by the fact that he was a carrier, and had the liquor stored there with other goods which he had brought in. with regard to other alleged sales, including that to Johnston, it was shown that no money hat) passed, and the transaction was not in the nature or a sale. The facts "of the case were not nearly sufficient for his Worship to convict, but apart from that aspect of the case,
