OHURA JOCKEY CLUB.

Annual Meeting-

The fourth annual meeting of the Ohura Jockey Club was held at Toe Toe on Wednesday last. The weather was all that could be desired, and with excellent acceptances for the various events, it was only to be expected that success would attend the gathering. The settlers turned out in force from all parts of the district, while considerable numbers of visitors from other localities were also present. The Secretary, Mr S. Meredith, had a busy time, and great credit is due to him for the able manner in which the meeting was organised. The booths were in the hands of Mr Aves, and were freely patronised. In the evening there was a good audience in Mangaroa Hall to witness Fair's Pictures, after which the Race Ball was held, which proved to be a fitting wind-up to a most enjoyable day. The meeting is expected to result with a substantial balance to the credit of the Club.

. The racing commenced with the hurdle race, which was won by D. Macfarlane's Mystery. The Maiden Plate went to Mr Gilmour's Burns, with C. May's Rawhiti as runner-up. A feature of the meeting was the success of Mr D. Bruce's Liberty, who won a treble, the Jockey Club Handicap, Ladies' Bracelet, and Flying Handicap all being credited to him. Needless to say the victories were well received, the popular owner coming in for many hearty congratulations. Mr E. Williams' clever pony Monte accounted for the Pony Race in good style, and the Trot Handicap was won by MrC. Williams'. Lady, who started from the limit. The following are the results
