Trying Mares.
With a life time experience wc find there is no rule on whi<-h we can depend foT trying any and ail kinds of mares. There arc many marc s that are unnatural in their ways, and there are exceptions to all rules, but a mare that .is natural in her way?, and which has done well from time of foaling, will be in season when the colt is about four days old, and will generally be in until the ninth or tenth day. If a mare has done well she should be bred on the eighth day as many go out or, the ninth. Some few go out on tlv eighth. We tried one regular breerirr this season that would not let tb- ) <•>: .- come to the pole when colt wa? < .days old. A marc if r.'.t colt is seven or eight or cay.will generally be in from th- tw. first to the twenty-?«-v» nth nay, hut wc have known marcs not U> romi- in the whole season wh'-n k t run pa?t the ninth day without breeding "Breeders' Gazette."
