WORK IN PARLIAMENT.
By way of answer to some complaints which have been made respecting the prolongation of sitting hoars, the Prime Minister presented the House with a few figures on Tuesday night in which comparison was made with previous sessions. The following table shows the number of days in the past six sessions and the time spent in sitting after midnight in each: — Sitting
During the last three weeks the House bad only sat for forty hours after midnight, and yet there was all this talk about killing members by the 10-»g sittings. The average daily sitting for the period was 10 hours 5 minutes, and though it had been spread about that the Government was driving the House, members had come back after Christmas as fresh as daisies.
