The aboriginal of Australia is an A xport in dodging missiles. The quickness of his eye and I lie accuracy of his judgment are wonderful, and are supplemented by suppleness of limlj and muscle. I have, seen an aboriginal (says a (I'Qvermuertt oilicia! who has spent many years in Australia) stand lor half an 'lour as a target for cricket bails thrown with great force at a distance of 3 0 or 1"> yards by professional bowlers, and successfully dodge them or parry them with hi.s shield. The shield was no broader than it stovepipe, and about the length of a/ man's arm. On<> of the balls properly placed would have killed him. Yet he dodged them all with the utmost self-possession, depending on the quickness of his eye and his agility.
