A Contradiction.

• TO THE EDITOR. Sir, In your issue of the 30th November ,a letter appeared over the signature of F. Elwood, Kaeaea, in which the following passage occurs "Take Wallace's Hill for instance. Inßtead of fascining this shocking piece of road, and throwing dry stuff on top 80 as to allow the waggons to go over to Te Kuiti to fetch stores, etc., in, they are throwing the soft slush out of the side into the middle of the road, which makes it almost impossible for the mud underneath to get hard." Mr Editor, I would like to contradict that statement through your columns. I have been working on that hill for some time, cleaning the slush out of the water table and throwing it on the extreme outer edge of the road, (not in the centre as Mr Elwood states in his letter.) In so doing lam carrying out my instructions to the best of my ability, as I had strict orders from the Overseer not to throw any slush in tts middle of the road. Hoping that in fairness to myself you will publish the above, I am, etc., « J. DOLLIMORE. 4 Aria, December sth, 1908
