WOOL SALES.
The second wool sale at Wellington opened on Friday last. The most conspicuous feature was the strong American competition for finest lines of crossbreds. The quantities offer-'d by the brokers amounted to 7603 bales, onr 600 bales more than at the corresponding sale last year. Compared with la-it sale, prices for best crossbreds rose from gd to Id. One lot of half bred brought Is, and thr'eequarterbred ranged from lid to lljd. A few crossbreds sold up to iojd, and crossbreds from Bjd to 1 10* d. ■As compared lo the November sale, medium crossbreds in the catalpguc in" question showed an advancp of Jd fa jd; othefi grades rose in sympathy, but the prices above quoted are for top lines, for America.
