A tragedy has been reported from Victoria. The decomposed bodies of a man and voman, believed to have been murdered, were found in a shaft at the Rushworth mine, which has been closed for the last four years. The affair is mysterious, as nobody is reported missing. The shaft is the resort of swagmen. The police, who are investigating the Rushworth mine mystery, believe that the bodies could not have been got to where they were found without lifting the baling tanks, weighing 4cwt, and it would have taken more than one person to do this. A quantity of iron rails and other heavy debris were also thrown on top of the tank. The male victim was over Git in height, and strongly built. The skull was completely smashed. The woman's head was missing, but may have disappeared from natural decomposition. Amongst some clothes found in the shaft was a newspaper dated August 29th.
