The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, report as follows:
We held a sale at Pirongia on Wed nesday last, when a good entry of cattle came forward, and although bidding was rather dull, all were sold. Fat cows made from £4 15s to £5 15s; fresh do, £2 17s to £3 4s; store cows, £2 to £2 10s, yearling steers, £2 to £2 ss; yearling heifers, £1 7s 6d to £1 12s 6d; 2 year old empty"heifers, £2 15s to £3 2s 6d; cows and calves, £2 16s; dairy cows, £3 15s to. £4 7s; waggon, £22; furniture and sundries, on account of Mr Miles at usual rates.
We held our fortnightly sale at Hamilton on Thursday, when we penned 70 head of beef, mostly cows and heifers, 350 fat . sheep, Jambs, and stores, and over 200 store cattle, also 50 pig-;. There was only a limited demand for fat sheep, but all other stock yarded sold readily. Young, fat cows made from £5 5s to £5 10s; do, not finished, £3 41s to £4 7s 6d; forward cows, £3 to £3 8s; 15 to 18 months old steers, £2 10s to £2 12s; yearling steers, £1 17s Gd to £2; 18 months old heifers, £2 2s to £2 10s; mixed yearlings, £1 12s. Sheep fat wethers shorn, 12s 9d to 15s 3d; ewes, 13s 9d; fat lambs, 12s; forward wethers, 12s 2d; store ewes, 9s 9d to 10s. PigsSlips. £1 Is to £1 10s; weaners, 9s to 13s'Gd.
At Ngaruawahia, on Friday. w- v had a full yarding of cattle, and offered 420 of all classes. There was a good attendance of Buyers from Upper and Lower Waikr.iio. and all sold with the exception of one line of 3-year old steers. Two and a half year old steers m ade £3 7s to £3 7s fid ; 1 5 to ] 8 months steers, £2 10s to £2 16s Gd ; yearling steers, £1 17s to £2 2s : 2 year old empty heifers, £2 13s to £2 18s'; do., in forward condition, £3 to £3 12s; fat cows, £4 10s to £5; mixed yearlings, £1 8s to £1 10s; dairy cows at profit, £5 to £5 15s; springing heifers, up to £5 ss. A line of ewes and lambs brought 17s 6d. On Monday last, 23rd inst., at Taupiri, we sold property, fiaxmill plant, etc., in the estate of G. F. Mellars deceased. The dwelling house and 4 acres land beside the Waikato River, realised £280; fiaxmill and plant, £80; a small section and building in Ngaruawahia township, £75.
