At the Horticultural Society's Exhibition the New Zealand Government was awarded a silver madal ,for coldstored apples, and a bronze medal fyt honey. The Kirkpatrick Company) Nelson, were awarded a sijv'er. medal for jams, etc. The Hokianga Cooperative Company a>d Clarke Whangarei, received bronnse medals lot preserves. The New South Waleß Government was awarded a silver medal for dried fruits. Defence is occupying a considerable amount of attention at Home. Apropos of Lord Roberts' warning that an invasion of England is possible, and despite official advice not to discuss the subject, important German newspapers admit that Buch an invasion possible though difficult.
