SCULLING RACE.

Australian Championship.

The scullling race for the championship of Australia between R. Thoroughgcrod the holder, and Whelch the New Zoalander, was rowed on the Hooter River, New South Wales on Saturday last, when Thoroughgood established his right to hold the title. The winner took the lead from the start and held it throughout, eventually winning by throe lengths. Whelch made several fine spurts but could never get into the lead. Thoroughgood describes Whelch as the best man he has yet met,. The time, 20m. 355., is considered slow but the race was rowed in dead water, which accounts for the slow time.
