WAITOMO COUNTY COUNCIL.

Engineer's Report.

I have advertised for tenders for the formation of the Kiokio Road from the Kiokio railway station, to a short distance past the creamery. If I do not receive a satisfactory tender, Mr Burd says, as soon as his machines have finished the work they are now doing, he will start them on the Kiokio Road. The Roads Department has some money to be spent on this road, and I think we should work together as much as possible. I have put on two day-men to renew culverts, and do other woric which cannot very well be done by contract, so as to have everything ready for the machines. As the money was getting short for the Tawarau Road, I stopped the men who were working there. The contract I let for making a drain and bank on the Otorohanga-Te Kuiti Road is finished. I inspected the place Mr Crean wanted to put in a culvert, but I thought a small bridge would be better and ordered the timber; Mr Crean will build it himself. So far, t have not been able" to make a start with the survey of the road to the Kaingaika Block; I asked Mr Jordan to get the necessary information, but it has not yet arrived.

The above report was held over from the report of last County Council meeting.
