CRICKET.

The popular summer game has started in earnest at Te Kuiti, and several .q-ood practices have been indulged in during the past week. On Saturday last a match was played between sides chosen by Messrs Phillips and Steel. After an interesting game Phillips'side won by six runs, the respective scores being 53 and 47. , Very good form was shown by several of the players, and, with proper attention to practice, the Club should be well able to Jjlhold its own during the season. The wicket which was laid down on the Domain during the Spring is in very fair order and promises to be really first class. The outfield is not all that could be desired, but the club members are determined to spare no pains to make the ground a credit to the town, from a cricketing point of view. is to be made to arrange for visitsjfrom outside clubs, and it is ghoped to arrange for the visit of an Auckland eleven during the season.

There is a probability of a match being arranged between the Kakahi and Te Kuiit clubs at an early date. The Kakahi team could arrive at Te Kuiti by the express train and return to Taumarunui the same evening by the goods train. A practice match will be played on Saturday afternoon and on Monday November 9th an all-day match will be played between married and single.
