TARANAKI LAND BOARD.

A meeting of the Taranaki Land Board was held on Tuesday October 20th. There were present: The Commissioner, Messrs THonnett, McCluggage, Heslop, and Rattenbury. The following business of interest to King Country was transacted" — Transfers: W Allen (deceased) to N. Oleson, section 8, block 2, Ohura. With reference to the application of B. Macfarlane and C. Hope to J. L. Robinson, section 4, block 9, Ohura, it was resolved that the transfer be approved providing the conditions of improvement were completed with and the papers 'otherwise in order. The Commissioners dissented General: August Schultz, who came second in the ballot was awarded section 1, block 15,, Ohura in place of H. Elliot who was held to be not landless. James Carter stated reasons for not residing on section 2, block 11, Aria.— Resolved that he must forthwith either reside, transfer, or sub-lease, or his interest will be liable to forfeiture. L. Hj Snow applied for the lease of sec, 3, block 15, Aria, to be issued. The Northern Ohura Medical Association asked that a site for a doctor's residence be set apart at Matiere. — Resolved to leave matters in the hand of the Commissioner. S. Riddle explained why he had built his house on land adjoining section 6, block, 10, Totora, instead of on the section. — Resolved that the notice of forfeiture be withdrawn and further action suspended for the present. E. W. Davis applied for a lease of part of Aria township in order to drain his section adjoining.—Permission was granted to put a drain thi*ough the swamp, without prejudice to any future disposal of the land, an the drain to be cut subject to the Rangers approval. It was decided to hold the' next meeting of the Board on Thursday, November 19th, owing to the general elections taking place on Tuesday, November 17th.
