Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., v.'ill hold a stock sale at Te Kuiti on Wednesday next, when they will offer 1600 good "woolly hoggets and 50 head of cattle, particulars of which appear in our advertising columns. The hoggets comprise various iines and are [exceptionally good. The sale will commence at 12 o'clock. The question of roads through Native lands cropped up again at the last meeting of theWaitomo Country Council on Monday last, when the Chairman stated that during his visit to Wellington he had arranged with the authorities of the Survey Department that, where the Department had power to lay off a road without compensation, such power would |be exercised upon the County Council's recommendation, providing the Council guaranteed the cost of survey. In case the Department could not supply one of its own officers a surveyor recommeded by the Council would be appointed to do the work.
