CRICKET.
A meeting of the Te Kuiti Cricket Club was held in the Chronicle office on Friday evening last. There was a good attendance and keen interest was evinced in the game. The Committee reported that the material for the wicket had been carted and with a little work the ground should be fit to play on by Saturday, October 29th. The Secretary stat.-d the financial position of the Club was fairly satisfactory, there being a sufficient amount in hand to meet current liabilities, while the subscriptions promised would suffice to meet practically the whole expense incurred in laying down the wicket and purchasing the material. Several new members were enrolled, and additional subscriptions to the amount of four guineas were received. It was decided to open the season on Saturday next, with a match between married and single. The Secretary was instructed to communicate with Clubs in neighbouring centres with a view to arranging matches during the season. It was decided to affiliate with the Auckland Cricket Association, and Messrs Lusk and Steel were appointed to arrange for a visit from an Auckland eleven on a convenient date. On Saturday last a working bee was responsible for some good work on the ground, a large number of Club members taking part.
