At Waihou last Friday we yarded 1250 head of cattle and 500 sheep. There was a large attendance and a good demand for all classes; 109 beef penned sold readily; fat steers, £7 12s 6dto £8 12s; weighty cows and heifers £6 10s to £7; lighter sorts, £5 to £5 7s 6d; 2J and 3 year steers, £4 6s to £5 Ss; 18 months and 2 year steers, £3 3s to £4; 12 to 15 month steers, £2 3s to £2 14s; mixed yearlings, 25s to £2 2s 6d; calves, 17s to £1; fresh cows, £2 15s to £3 10s; empty 2 year heifers £2 10s to £3; yearling heifers, 355; yearling shorthorn bulls, lOgns to 12£ gns.; Holsteins. 5£ to 6gns. A large number of dairy cows yarded elicited brisk bidding, cows, £6 5s to £7 15s; for the backward cows, £4 to £4 ss; heifers, £6 to £6 15s; others, £3 10s to £5; forward wethers, 16s to 17s 6d; fat ewes shorn,-lis to 13s; hoggets, 10s; pigs and slips, 18s to 27s 6d.

At Hamilton on Thursday we had a short market for beef but stores and springers were penned in good numbers. Well fatted cow beef sold exceptionally well at prices ranging from £6 12s to £7 16s for young cows of prime quality; good cows, £5 8s to £5 ISs; 12 to 18 month old steers, £3 to £3 Cs; yearling steers, £2 10s to £2 15s; empty 2 year old heifers, £3 to £3 3s; dairy cows close to profit, £7 Ss to £7 15s; others, £4 10s to £6; springing heifers, £5 to £7 according to size and quality. Sheep—3oo penned. Fat wethers made 116s 6d to 18s; ewes, 14s 6d to 16s. Pigs —7O penned. Weaners, Us to 14s ; slips, 16s to 19s; porkers, £1 10s to £1 17s 6d.

We held a sale at Matamata last Wednesday when about 1000 sheep came forward, all classes being well represented. Buyers were in attendance from Tauranga, TePuke and Waikato districts and bidding was brisk throughout and every pen changed hands at satisfactory prices. Fat steers made up to £8 ss; fat cows, £5 5s to £5 17s 6d; 3 to 3i year old steers, £5 8 s 6d to £5 19s, 2\ to 3 year old steers £3 19s to £4 10s; 18 month to 2 year steers £3 10s to £3 15s; yearling steers £2 10s to £2 15s; mixed yearlings £1 15s to £2 4s; 2 year empty heifers £3 6s to £3 10s; empty cows in fresh condition £2 18s to £3 10s; dairy cows close to profit £5 12s 6d to £7; srpinging heifers well grown good quality £7 12s 6d to £8 10s; smaller heifers £5 to £6 7s 6d. Sheep —Woolly hoggets, 13s Gd; shorn do., lis Gd; Pigs—Weaners, lis Gd to 14s; slips, £1 3s to £1 Bs.

We held our monthly sale at Te Awamutu on Saturday, and offered over 300 head of cattle which all sold under brisk competition with a demand unsatisfied. Empty cows in forward condition made £3 12s to £3 17s 6d; fat do., £5 12s Gd to £5 16s; empty 2 year old heifers, £2 17s Gd to £3 Is; 12 to 15 month old steers, £2 12s to £2 16s; yearling steers, £2 5s to £2 7s 6d; mixed yearlings, £1 10s to £1 14s; dairy cows, £5 10s to £7 15s;, springing heifers. £6 to £7 10s; small do., in low condition, £3 10s to. £4 10s. Pigs —l6O sold; weaners, 14s to 17s 6d; slips, £1 Is to £1 7s; porkers, £1 13s to £1 13s 6d; 50 hoggets in wool, 15s Gd.
