OTANGIWAI (MANGAPAPA).
(Own Correspondent.) The Northern Ohura has, at last, * boer/well suited in the matter of secur--1" irg a fully qualified medical practitioner. Dr. Bronte has visited the district and terms have been arranged which are eminently satisfactory both to the doctor and to the Medical Committee. The outstanding feature will be that there is no mileage charge to any subscriber to the Medical Fund, as mileage is to be paid in a lump sum out cf the subscribed funds. "There will now be no further cause for anxiety in the district when anyone is unfortunate enough to be overtaken with sicknessor accident, as the Doctor is undertaking to keep two stable fed horses; his bedroom is to be connected with the telephone,.and he has a reputation for "getting there" no matter the state of the roads. The Doctor isdue at Matiere about the 26th inst., and the Committee is erecting a building at Matiere fcr a surgery at an early date. --I think that the Committee and its energetic secretary are to be congratulated" on securing the serivces jjof such a capable, energetic and genial man for the districrt. Everyone at this end of the district is delighted at the satisfactory turn of events, and the doctor's advent is hailed with pleasure. The first consignment of cream left Otangiwai on Monday of last week for the Nino Niho Dairy Factory. Mr McParland, the new creamery manager, has been delayed owing to his furniture and effects going astray between Oneand Ongarue. Be is'taking' up his v.eidencc at Otangiwai in a day or two, ar.d his advent, as well as that of Mrs McFarland, is looked upon as a j-rreat addition to the place, especially Tn connection with local social functions, A. H. Hyde, of M is puta branch store at Otanigwai at r.flw;riy date, and so this place will c-oon be a small township in reality as well as in name. Building operations will be pretty brisk this year. A school i - esidence of rive rooms, a probable enlargement of the present school room building, a store, an addition to Mr Carter's residence, and a new house of six rooms' for Mr W Davis, as well as a creamery and creamery manager's residence which have lately been erected.
