They Say
That we tihnk that personal attacks on public servants should be sent to the proper quarter and not to the public press, where public servants have no chance of defence or retaliation. That an Otangiwai lady undertook salvage operations at a burning camp in a most plucky and resolute manner. That her efforts resulted in nearly every thing of value being saved. That her action is to be commended. That the settlers picnic promises to be a great success this summer. That, the people of Paemako and surrounding districts intend to make their event one of the best. That with the united assistance of Kuitians a powerful Railway League should gain definite results. That the Aria and Pio Pio Leaguewill assist to a man to secure Te Kuiti becoming the junction. That a trial survey to Te Kuiti is asked for from the Minister for Railways. That the out back settlers are elated at the prospects of good roads with the grants from the Government. That every effort should be made by the residents and settlers likely to benefit by the railway deviation to assist the Ohura to secure proper and permanent roads. That the Government are bound to grant these facilities to compensate for the alteration of route. That the town loan will be a boon to tne public and of benefit to the whole district. That the granting of the money is now only a matter of weeks. That in the Ohura the reason of only a small vote for the main road is that the District Road Engineer intends to have a better road via Mangapapa and the Waikaka to Mangaroa, and that Andy Sayers is busy grading the new route, which will cut off some five miles of mud. That "The Universal Frovider," of Matiere, is to have a store along the new route as soon as the roads are dry enough to cart the timber to Mangapapa. That since the Northern settlers now believe that the line is not to start from Ongarue, straight jackets will be added to the usual store sundries. That the "Universal Provider" has wired for a consignment of extra straight ones for Mangapapa, and one extra for Niho Niho. That the Otangiwai district is disgusted at the "mud siinger" who endeavoured to discredit the energetic Road Overseer. That we think the said "mud siinger" should not represent his own personal feelings as being shared by the district in common.
