MANGAORINO HILL.

Proposed New Road. On Saturday last a meeting of the Mangaorinoßoad settlers was held at Te Kuiti for the purpose of arranging matters in connection with the proposed new road through the properties of Messrs Jordan and Boddie to the top of the Mangaorino road. After discussing the position, it was arranged that in exchange for the road through Mr Boddie's property the Council should be asked to convey the road reserve already applied for by Mr Boddie. A deputation consisting of Messrs Cornish, Snowden and Boddie was appointed to wait on the Council at their next meeting with a view to completing the negotiations.

The proposed road has already been surveyed, and an average grade up the hill of about one in eleven has been obtained, with the exceptknvof a short distance near the top, where the grade will be one in nine. The new road will shorten the distance to the top of the hill by about a mile.
