A fancy dress ball, got up by the footballers of*the County in aid of the funds of the proposed Cottage Hospital, ''fas held last Friday night. There was Record attendance and almost ail the dangers were in fancy dress. Where so many of the fancy dresses were good, it would be invidious to mention any special one being the best. The hall was very prettily decorated with greenery, flowers and flags. Altogether it was the most successful dance ever held here.
On Saturday night a children's fancy dress ball was held, the maypole, floral and flag dances were very pretty and well done, and the whole affair reflects great credit on those ladies who trained the children.
The dairy factory will be finished in about a fortnight. It is proposad to have some ceremony in connection with the opening. Several new settlers have taken up land here latelv.
Things are beginning to brighten and there is every appearance tnai the stagnation caused by the late f.re is coming to an end. There is plenty of grass now and numbers of sheep are being brought in, both overland and by steamer.
