N.Z. FARMERS' UNION.
Te Kuiti Branch.
A meeting of the Te Kuiti branch of the New Zealand Farmers' Union was held in Mr H. J. Mussen's office on Monday evening last Mr J, Boddie presided, and there was a fair attendance of members. The representative of the branch, Mr Boddie, to 'the" Provincial Conference, reported that the remit from the Te Kuiti branch had received very favourable consideration and had been approved by the Colonial Conference. Everything pointed to a greater measure of attention* at the hands of the Government in consequence of the recommendatoins from the Conference, the matter of roads being particularly instanced. The most important business of the meeting was the consideration of a circular from the Executive which notified the branch of its freedom to consider the choice of a candidate for the coming general election" as applicable to local considerations. independent of the Executive. After a fair amount of discussion it was decided that no active part be taken in the coming election by the Branch as a body, but that the candidates be questioned as to their attitude t«f the general platform of the Union.
